Paducah Chamber to host Mayoral Candidate Forum at October Luncheon

The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Power in Partnership Luncheon on Thursday, October 3. The program will feature a Mayoral Candidate Forum with Mayor George Bray and City Commissioner David Guess. This luncheon takes the place of the Chamber’s monthly breakfast and is sponsored by Paducah Bank.

Doors open at 11:15 a.m. at the Paducah-McCracken County Convention Center. Pre-registration is required by Monday, September 30 by noon at paducahchamber.org or call 270-443-1746. Power Card holders do not have to pre-register.  The cost is $25. 

This is an opportunity for area citizens to hear directly from the candidates for Paducah Mayor and learn about their plans for the city as they answer business-related questions submitted by Chamber members.

The moderator is Jennifer Horbelt, Evening News Anchor at WPSD Local 6. Each candidate will be allowed to give opening and closing statements. Candidates will be asked questions and given a time limit to respond.

George Bray was elected Paducah’s 40th Mayor in November 2020 and took office in January 2021. Mayor Bray is an experienced businessman with a long career in pharmaceutical distribution. He serves on numerous boards and committees including the board of directors of Greater Paducah Economic Development, Industrial Development Authority, Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the National Quilt Museum.

David Guess is serving his fourth term as City Commissioner.  He served from January 2003 through December 2006 and was elected to his third and fourth term in 2020 and 2022, respectively. He is a small business owner and property investor, having been invested in residential and commercial rental properties for approximately 30 years. He is the president, owner/operator of David Guess Heating and Air and the president and co-owner of Hipp Property Group.

Attendees will be asked to follow these guidelines:

  • No campaign banners, brochures, buttons, pins or other campaign materials or promotion activities will be permitted by attendees or candidates.
  • Supporters must be respectful and courteous. No unruly behavior will be allowed. Those who do not follow these rules will be asked to leave.
  • The audience will be asked to remain silent and to silence their phones during the Forum and to refrain from responding to any candidate’s answers or comments.
