Four area state legislators will be the featured speakers for the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Luncheon on Tuesday, December 18. The event will be held at the Commerce Center, 300 South 3rd Street, in the Paducah Bank Community Room, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Reservations are required and the cost to attend is $20 for the luncheon. There is limited seating available.
The Paducah Chamber’s Public Policy Series gives the business community access to legislative leaders, issues and information and is sponsored by Paducah and Louisville Railway and Swift & Staley. Cory Hicks, Vice Chair of Business Advocacy for the Paducah Chamber Board, will review the Chamber’s priorities for the 2019 Session and each legislator will speak about the upcoming session.
Speakers include Senator Danny Carroll, Rep. Steven Rudy, Rep.-Elect Randy Bridges and Rep.-Elect Chris Freeland.
Senator Carroll was re-elected in November to serve his second term representing the 2nd District. He represents McCracken, Ballard and Marshall Counties. He was recently appointed by Senate Leadership to serve as Chair of the Economic Development, Tourism and Labor Committee for the 2019 General Assembly. He is the President/CEO of the Easterseals West Kentucky.
Rep. Rudy started his service representing the 1st District in 2005 and was re-elected in November for his 8th term. He was recently reappointed to serve as Chair of the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee for the 2019 session. He also serves on the Agriculture Committee and Small Business & Information Technology Committee. Rep. Rudy represents a portion of McCracken County and Ballard, Carlisle, Hickman and Fulton Counties. He is part owner of Rudy’s Farm Center in Kevil.
Rep.-Elect Bridges was elected in November for his first term. He will represent the 3rd District that includes McCracken County. He is a partner with RE/MAX Realty Group.
Rep.-Elect Freeland will represent the 6th District including a portion of McCracken County and Lyon and Marshall Counties. This is his first term following his election in November. Freeland is General Manager of Freeland Broadcasting, a small family owned and operated media group that includes WCBL in Benton, WCCK in Calvert City, two stations in Tennessee and the online newspaper, MarshallCountyDaily.com.
