Note: The May Breakfast is held one week later to avoid conflict with the Mayor and Judge’s National Day of Prayer Breakfast.
The May Paducah Chamber Power in Partnership Breakfast will feature a focus on Small Businesses with featured speaker Brian Mefford, Executive Director of the Office of Entrepreneurship for the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development. The breakfast will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 7:30 a.m. at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. Swift & Staley is the sponsor.
The small business focus will include the drawing of the names of three local businesses from those who submit their summaries to the Chamber for an opportunity to feature the businesses and their products and services from the podium. All Chamber members with 15 or less employees are asked to participate by submitting a 75-word summary about their business. The submitted summaries will be compiled into a document for distribution to attendees at the breakfast and posted on the Chamber’s website and Facebook. To be included, the business must be a for-profit business with 15 or less employees. The featured businesses will have their Owner/CEO/or designee introduced at the podium and their summary will be read to the attendees. A representative of the business must be present for the spotlight recognition. The “grand prize” winner from the drawing will receive the use of a digital billboard for a month this summer courtesy of Hibbs Insurance. A submission form is available at paducahchamber.org. Deadline for submission of the business summary is Friday, May 4.
The featured speaker, Brian Mefford, joined the Cabinet for Economic Development earlier this year. His focus is to cultivate an entrepreneurial and small business support system through an array of programs, initiatives and partnerships benefitting entrepreneurs, small business owners and knowledge-based start-up entities. As the founder of numerous successful startups that have thrived in various regions of the country, Mefford readily shares with entrepreneurs the lessons learned through his experience. Most recently he led the spin out of CNX from Connected Nation, an internationally recognized broadband services he founded and led as CEO for a decade. He received a B.S. in Economics from Centre College and an International M.B.A from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona.
