The Federal Co-Chairman of the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) will be the featured speaker for the February 1st Power in Partnership monthly breakfast of the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce. Cape Girardeau native Peter Kinder will share information about the DRA and its work in our region.  The breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Julian Carroll Convention Center and  Lundberg Medical Imaging is the sponsor.

Peter Kinder was appointed as the third Alternate Federal Co-Chairman of the Delta Regional Authority by the U.S. President in August 2017. In this role, he supports the economic goal of bringing back jobs and growth to America by making targeted economic development investments in the Mississippi River Delta region’s communities.

The Delta Regional Authority is a federal-state partnership created by Congress in 2000 to help create jobs, build communities, and improve lives through strategic investments in economic development in 252 counties and parishes across eight states. To date, DRA’s investments have exceeded $3.7 billion – including contributions from federal, state and local partners – and have supported infrastructure improvements, workforce development and training, and increased community capacity. These investments have helped create or retain more than 38,000 jobs, trained more than 8,400 workers for 21st Century jobs, and provided water and sewer service to more than 75,000 families since DRA was established.

A former Lieutenant Governor of Missouri and an eighth-generation Southeast Missourian, Kinder has dedicated his career to serving the state and the bootheel region. His diverse career includes experience working as a private-practice attorney, serving in the Missouri State Senate, leading a successful congressional campaign, and publishing the region’s leading newspaper before being elected as the state’s Lieutenant Governor, where he served for three years.  He also served as acting Governor of Missouri for 105 days.

Kinder earned his bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and his Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.
