A “Soft Skills Boot Camp” is being offered for local employers and employees by the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce.  The seminar is sponsored by the Leadership Paducah Foundation. The Boot Camp is a half-day program and will be offered in two sessions on Tuesday, September 12 from 8 a.m. to noon or 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The seminar will be held at the Commerce Center, 300 South Third Street, in the Paducah Bank Community Room.

Finding employees with good “soft skills” is a workforce issue according to a study conducted by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce.  The Chamber surveyed about 480 large and small employers and asked them their opinions of the state's workforce. About one-third said they have trouble finding people with good "soft skills," which include personal responsibility, communication and an ability to work well with others.

This seminar provides a powerful message about the necessary skills that will lead to increased employee effectiveness while boosting a company’s productivity, retention and customer satisfaction.  Seminar topics will include:  image, importance of strategies, creativity, communications, project management, problem-solving skills, customer service, teamwork, conflict resolution, exceeding expectations and leadership.

The presenter is Greg Coker, Director of The Institute for Organization and Leadership Development, an affiliate of Capital Link Consultants, a full-service leadership development and communication effectiveness firm focused on Empowering People, Building Teams and Transforming Organizations.  He is a published author of “Building Cathedrals: The Power and Purpose” and “Moving the Needle: Appreciate, Activate & Rehabilitate. Coker has over 25 years of experience leading training and development sessions with three different fortune 500 companies.

The cost is $40.  Those interested in attending should register on line, www.paducahchamber.org or email info@paducahchamber.org or call 270-443-1746.  The first 40 Leadership Paducah alums to register will receive a complimentary registration.
