As part of Small Business recognition for May sponsored by the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, several educational seminars are scheduled. The seminars are free, open to the public and will be held at the Commerce Center, 300 South 3rd Street. The sponsors for the seminars are i5 design group and FNB Bank.

Tues., May 16, 8 a.m. - Unraveling the Marketing Web with presenter Cindy Butterbaugh of Progressive Marketing. Butterbaugh will discuss the latest trends, visuals, Search Engine Optimization and lead a question and answer discussion time. Some of her clients include Bryant Law Center, Youngblood’s RV of Paducah, Paducah Dental Care, Audiology & Hearing Center and others.
Wed., May 17, 8 a.m. - Your Library = Your Partner in Small Business Success with presenters Bobbie Wrinkle, Adult Services Librarian and Aaron Williams, Library Technology Assistant, with the McCracken County Public Library. Topics include an overview of the free tools, resources and staff available at the library to assist small businesses. This includes information on conducting market research, generating sales leads, technology skills and more information about Flipster. Those is attendance who do not have a library card will be able to obtain one.
Mon., May 22, 9 a.m. - How to do Business with the Government presented by the Kentucky Procurement Technical Assistance Center. Darrall Henderson with KYPTAC will lead this seminar. The U.S. Government is the world’s largest buyer of products and services. At the local, state and federal level, the government buys a wide variety of products and services. Topics include an overview of KYPTAC, how to work with the government including how contractors are solicited, partnering with large government primes and understanding how to build relationships with other businesses to improve chances of securing government contracts.
Wed., May 24, 8 a.m. – Risky Business: Learn What the Bad Guys Don’t Want You to Know about Cyber Security. Wes Spencer, Chief Information Officer with FNB Bank, Inc., will be the presenter. Spencer is a nationally recognized information security professional with over a decade of experience. Topics include how to protect your business from damaging financial losses, how cyber criminals target small businesses, how the bad guys think and act and practical guidelines to use.
