An informational workshop about what to expect when serving on a non-profit board is the topic for a professional development seminar hosted by the Paducah Young Professionals on April 25.  Mickey Brown will be the featured speaker to lead attendees through the process of serving and what to expect.  The public is invited to attend.  The workshop begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Commerce Center in the Paducah Bank Community Room.  Pre-registration is required and the fee is $15 which includes lunch. 

The focus of the workshop is to educate individuals that are interested in expanding their community involvement through service with a local non-profit agency. Attendees will learn what to expect and what they need to know to prepare to serve on a non-profit board.  Monique Zuber, Executive Director of the Paducah-McCracken County United Way, will speak about the non-profit organizations the United Way represents.  Several other local non-profit organizations will be in attendance to meet with attendees. 

Mickey Brown, MBA, CPC, CTT is an adjunct instructor at West Kentucky Community and Technical College and an Executive Coach and Trainer.  She currently consults with small companies and non-for-profit organizations.  Brown’s professional background includes executive recruitment, executive and skills training, organization development planning and management, performance and development systems design and management, as well as meeting facilitation. She also has management and leadership experience on many Boards with responsibility for designing and facilitating planning meetings. Brown holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree in Management from University of Louisville.
