Job Description:
Reliant Maritime Solutions is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations of our growing maritime transportation company.
We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented accounting professional who takes ownership of their work, enjoys solving problems, and can maintain accuracy while managing multiple deadlines. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with the financial operations supporting vessels, crews, and maritime transportation activities.
What You’ll Do
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Track vessel operating costs, job costs, and voyage-related expenses
- Review and reconcile crew travel, fuel, maintenance, and vendor invoices
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and labor cost allocations
- Prepare sales, use, property tax, and other financial reports as assigned
- Prepare financial schedules, reports, and analyses for management
- Assist with annual audits and provide documentation to external auditors
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Assist with improving accounting procedures, processes, and internal controls
- Maintain strict confidentiality of financial and employee information
- Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and changing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any field
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Accounting experience in maritime, transportation, logistics, or construction
- Experience with financial reporting and external audits
- Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, payroll accounting, fixed assets, budgeting, or variance analysis

Work Environment
This is primarily an office-based position involving prolonged periods of computer work. Occasional visits to vessel operations or terminals may be required.
The position generally follows standard business hours, with additional hours occasionally required during month-end, year-end, or audit periods.

- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and electronically
